http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20342512,00.html I just read a quick story from people magazine's online site that talked about Kendra Wilkison talking about how she cried after the superbowl because the paparazzi wouldn't leave her alone.
When I first read the headline I was pretty curious to see what she was talking about. I feel the same way now as I did when I started the article is that the paparazzi are psycopathic stalkers.
The basics of the story is that Kendra Wilkison (former playboy centerfold and former girlfriend to Hugh Hefner) was at the superbowl watching her husband Hank Baskett play for the Colts. Although his team lost, Kendra was emotionally upset, not about her husbands team losing but because the paparazzi were in her and her families face the whole time and wouldn't leave them alone. She also had with her, her new born child. She asked the paparazzi several times to leave them alone, mainly because of having the baby with her and they would not go away.
I understand that there is a certain amount of privacy that you lose when you become famous but that is absolutely ridiculous. I have read many articles where paparazzi have caused accidents even deaths (example...Princess Diana) where they were stalking someone famous all for the sake of getting a few juicy details and photos. I admit that I really enjoy reading celebrity gossip magazines. But I certainly do not want anyone hurt or killed or even upset just to gain a little access to their private lives. I wish celebrities would ban together and make a law where the paparazzi have to maintain a fair distance away from them. I know that if that were happening to me, I would be furious.
In conclusion, paparazzi are dangerous and nothing more than stalkers with cameras in front of their faces. They should be put in jail for causing harm or serious upset to anyone! Shame on them!!!

The bottom line to me is that these people still have a life outside of entertainment. If people would not be so quick to read about the news the demand would not be so high for the celebrities to be harrassed.
ReplyDeleteI agree, there are some lines that shouldn't be crossed and taking pictures of someone's child is one of those lines. I can't blame celebrities for assaulting these paparazzi because they are invading their personal lives. There is a law against such behaviour in California and I think it should become a law in every other state as well. Celebrities give up some of their privacy in becoming famous but everyone derserves to maintain their private lives outside of the spotlight.
ReplyDeleteWell, one could look at it two ways. The reason paparazzi take pictures is cause people buy those magazines. If people would stop buying and reading then it would put them out of buisness, and all would be good. Yet, if you cant handle the attention dont do something that will bring it. Like most things in life there are two sides to every story.
ReplyDeleteSome people live their lives through their children, and then there are those who live their lives through other people. This type of gregarious living seems maladjusted, but when you think about it, how are we really any different when we watch reality shows of the stars? Aren't we just stalking them through the TV? The only difference with the 'razzi is that they make their living off of it.
ReplyDeleteI don't think that they should have the right to "hassle" people. True, they have to take pics for magazines, etc. But the only reason they continue to do it is because we, the consumer, like to see the results of their pursuits.
