The topic of my last and final blog for this class is titled "Working Girl." As in the movie with Melanie Griffin and Harrison Ford, not the working girl from the street corners.
This movie has to be one of my all time favorites. I caught the last 45 minutes of this movie on T.V. this morning and knew I wanted to blog about it.
Here is this girl, Tess and she has all these ideas but no one takes her good ideas seriously. So she has to do a little bending of the rules to make her-self heard. I think that you have to admire a girl like that. Because she's beautiful everyone only she's the face and not the brains. So she hooks up with this guy, Jack, who is also her boss' sort of boyfriend but her boss is out of town with a broken leg. So now she's really into things deep. But in the end she gets the job, and the guy.
I know from first hand experience that just because you might not have that college degree behind your name, how hard you have to work to prove to others that you are more than capable of doing the job. Now I am in no way saying that you shouldn't go to college because I am obviously in college. But sometimes I think you need to give people a chance whether or not they went to college. Sometimes it's hands on experience that makes the person a better worker than taking classes and just reading about it.
If you have never seen this movie, than I really encourage you to do so!
Anyway...best wishes to you all, I hope you find yourself happy and successful!

Crabapple tree's!
In my home, the recent topic has been about Crab apple tree's!
I know this may sound like an odd topic of interest but it is one that I have found to be kind of interesting.
Recently my husband was given two free crab apple tree's to plant in out back yard. We have a pretty decent sized back yard, so we were excited to take these 2 tree's and make them part of our home's decor. 1st of all, when they are mature enough to bloom, the flowers are absolutely beautiful to look at. I can hardly wait to see them in full bloom. But the 2nd thing, which is the main part of our conversation, is that we can not find a plain and simple solution to our question..."Are crap apple's safe to eat raw"?
I have found several recipes using the tiny fruit for jellies and preserves but that is with the fruit cooked. But no one seems to be able to answer the questions about if they are safe to eat raw. My first thought was that of they're safe for jelly than surely they are ok to eat raw. But then I thought, what if cooking them takes out the potentially harmful part of them.
The reason we are to interested in this, is that we have young children and the last thing I want to do is have their stomach pumped from eating something that comes from their own back yard that might make them sick.
If anyone knows anything about this, I would love to hear what you have to say! It would help ease my mind if I could get a straight forward answer from someone on this! Best Wishes and thanks for reading!

Semester...coming to an end!
I really can't believe how fast this semester has gone by! I have to admit that even though this class isn't something that I really needed to get my degree, I have really enjoyed it. It has given me the chance to use my imagination and express my self. Sometimes after a long day of studying or work, it's nice to be open to those options.
Blogging has actually turned out to be more fun and interesting that I originally thought it would be. When the semester first started I was looking over the syllabys. When I saw all the blogging that we had to do, I gave a big mental sigh. But as the semester progressed I really got into not only writing my own blogs but I enjoyed reading what everyone else wrote.
Towards the end of the semester I picked out a few fellow bloggers that I choose to read every week. Not because I didn't like what the other students were writing about I just felt more in-tuned with their aspects on life and that became my comfort zone.
But I want to say that I hope everyone had a successful semester and that things are going as they should be. I thought Professor Chism was great and fun to work with. Best wishes and good luck to everyone! God bless you and all you do!

Noah's ark found!!! Maybe...
Researchers claim that they have found Noah's Ark!
I found this article on MSN's homepage. What an intriging story!!!
Can you imagine that if it really does turn out to be true? I find history to be very interesting. But to go back to the days of the bible, that is the ultimate history lesson! I have always been extremely fond of the story of Noah. I LOVE going to museums to actually be able to not only learn about history but to get to SEE history. The whole idea that researchers may have found the ark truly gives me goose bumps!
I am one of those mom's who want to take their kids on an all-american family road trip. Where to pack up the car and travel across country. But while traveling, you stop at every museum, state park, giant ball of twine,... you name it! But to think about getting to see the Ark, makes me want to plan the trip before I even know for 100% certanty that it is even actually the Ark.
This is truly a great discovery if it is true! I pray it is!

Photographer falls victim to shark attack!
A National Geographic photographer becomes a victim to a shark while filming.
I found this amazing story on MSN's home page. It was as amazing video to watch.
When I first clicked on this article is was out of pure curiosity. I really wasn't thinking of using this as a blog assignment, but once I watched this video I knew I had to.
A photographer and his crew were attempting to capture a shark and mount a camera on the shark's back so they could learn more about the sharks' behaviors, etc. During the process (as you could imagine...) the shark got angry and went for his closest target which happen to be the photographer. Luckily the photographer was the only one injured during this incident. He sustained some injuries but is alive and well today to tell this story.
I REALLY hope to take a few minutes to watch this amazing story all caught on camera. It really was fascinating to watch! Thank goodness everyone including the shark are all well.
I love stories like this where everything turns out good in the end. This could of been a really horrible story to share but luckily for everyone involved the ending was a happy one. And I have to thank my lucky stars it wasn't me!!! =)

16 reasons you might smell!!!
"16 reasons you might smell," came from an article I found on MSN's homepage.
I actually found this article to be pretty informative.
O.K., I have to admit, that when I clicked on this headline, my first thought was that I was going to mentally make fun of it. But once I started reading, I found a lot of really interesting information. Have you ever walked past someone in a store and felt like you had to hold your breath because they have body odor? I know I have, and I'm sure at one time or another I have thought to myself, "They need a shower!" But after reading this article that may not be the only reason. Body odor doesn't just come from getting sweaty but can come from a lot of other sources.
You can body odor issues from the types of food you eat to your medication. I had heard of a few of these before but I was really surprised by others.
So, I have to apologize to anyone who has ever had to deal with bad body odor. I feel bad for them and didn't realize that there were so many other possible explanations out there for it. I hope you take the time to read this article, I found it to be very informative!

Girl found alive after missing for 5 days!
Nadia Brown was found Tuesday morning after been missing for 5 days.
This is one of those suspensful/feel-good stories that I love to hear about.
Nadia went for a bike ride and when she didn't come home, her parents began to worry. Authorities feared the worst when they found her bike and helmet. Apparently the little girl has a form of Autism and wondered into the woods. The crazy part, is that the area she went into is said to be one of the largest alligator infested areas in Central Florida.
I still can't believe that little girl was able to come out of there alive. She was hungry and covered in bug bites but in very good condition other than that. I have children of my own and I can't imagine them disapearing in the first place but then to imagine them amoungst a bunch of hungry, wild aligators is more than I can comprehend.
I'm just so glad to here that she is now home and safe. It's one of those moments when you can't help but think that her guardian angel was on high alert during that time!

What to blog about...
Do you ever find yourself with really nothing to talk about? At least anything of interest? I was scrolling through all the different headlines today and nothing grabbed at me. Even though I'm a true People magazine fan, I find myself putout with all the same-ole-same-ole.
Then the headline topics of the day were so sad, so glum that I found myself feeling a little bummed out after reading some of the articles.
I guess I was looking for that WOW factor from something and I just couldn't find it. So now I find myself stretching to fill this weeks requirement. I would love to hear some input from you guys on what you do when you find yourself in a rut.
So I guess I will have to wait for some suggestion! It's just been one of those days! One where things are going right but the day it's self is just BLAHHHHH!!! Do you know what I mean?
Anyway, I look forward to hearing any suggestions you might have for me and I hope you are feeling inspired and full of ideas. Best wishes to you!

Teen girl commits suicide after being taunted
I found this article on MSN's homepage. Phoebe Prince hung herself after being taunted and harassed for 3 months by fellow classmates.
I find these types of stories to be completely heartbreaking! I am truly saddened by the action of these kids that lead this girl to take her own life.
I can't say that I have never done or said anything bad to someone because I have. But I could never imagine being so mean or so hurtful to someone that they would kill themselves. The aguish and torment this poor girl must of been feeling in her last moments of her life is unspeakable. This girls life is over because other kids were being so cruel and so mean. And why were they being so mean...? What purpose did this give...? Do they feel like they have accomplished something now that she's dead? There future of ever doing anything is now over! All because they were being a bunch of self-righteous jerks!!! And I can't even imagine what Phoebe's poor parents must be going through. My heart breaks for them.
I have been reflecting on this article a lot and I just can't get past it! Well, all I can say is I hope these kids can sleep at night! I hope they got what they wanted! Shame on them!

Bristol Palin speaks out about Teen Pregnancy!
Bristol Palin, who is the the daughter of the once VP hopeful Sarah Palin speaks out about teen pregnancy! I found this article from People magazine's online web site.
I found this article to be really great.
There is also a 30 second commercial the Bristol Palin does. The message is to think about what your doing before you have sex. To consider the consiquences. I have a daughter who will one day not far from now will be a teenager. The thought of her having sex scares the crap out of me. I try to talk to her about it but she always gets so embarrassed about the whole thing. I can't say having the "birds and bees" talk is great for me either but I know it's important to do. When I was 15 years old, my mom gave me a book and walked out of the room. Of course, at 15 yrs old, all you want to do is look at this pictures. But teen pregnancy is on an all time rise. I feel like awareness and communication plays a big factor in prevention. I know that I could handle her getting pregnate better than her being on drugs but I also want her to have every opportunity to make the most of herself.
As I'm sure any parent is, I am petrified about the future decisions my children make. I just pray that I did a good job about educating them with the facts and love that they will make the right choices.
I hope you take the time to read the article. It really was impressive!

Foods that help fight stress!
I found this article about foods that help fight stress on MSN.
I am always looking for ways to help fight stress with out really realizing it. So I really got a lot from this article.
My husband has poor genetics and is now finding out 1st hand how bad they came be. He has tremendously high cholesterol, glucose intolerant, and fights weight gain. His family history is a book about these things along with heart attacks, strokes, high blood pressure. After a recent visit to the doctor and a few tubes of blood later he found out that he is no different than most of his other family members.
He is a pretty active guy and we really don't eat that bad. But due to his genetics's we are having to change a lot of the way we do things. It's now all about a health diet, exercise, and maintaining a healthy stress level. So when I found this article I was pretty pumped to see that are foods out there that are not only healthy but help fight stress as well. I can throw these foods into our meals and he won't even have to know that they have all these multiple benefits. The only reason I sneak them in is because all of this has been a pretty hard reality biter for him, so I'm trying to keep things as simple as possible.
I hope you enjoy the tips as much as I did! Enjoy!

April Fool's
I read this very short article about the history of April Fool's day on MSN's homepage and found it to be pretty disappointing.
Basically they say the way that April Fool day got it's start was from a wealth man who sent a servant running around on "Fool's Errands"! Of course this took place on April first. And this is supposidly how it all got it's start.
I guess I was thinking there would be some really cool story behind it. But it did also say that this was a day when adults enjoyed going back to the time of there childhood and playing adolesent pranks on others. I'm a kid at heart so I really don't need a day like April Fool's but I see where some people might get some enjoyment from it.
I do have to say that my favorite memory of April Fool's was from when I was in 6th grade. My good friend came to school on crutches with her foot and ankle wrapped up in an Ace bandage. Claiming that she fell off her porch the night before and had badly twisted her ankle. She played the part all day long. She used those crutches as if she was really and truly depending on them. Then during the last period of the day she casually walked up to the pencil sharpener to sharpen her pencil. At that point someone yelled "Hey, your not using your crutches"! And she exclaimed "April Fool's!" She really had everyone going, even the teachers!
Even though the meaning behind this crazy day is pretty lame, I say go forth and spread awnryness amoungst your co-workers, family, and friends! Enjoy!

Fantasy Football, Baseball,...blah, blah, blah!
I write this blog in hopes that someone out there might be able to shed some light on this subject for me! My husband is a huge Fantasy Football, Baseball, etc... freak! He loves it! Him and his buddies are constantly razzing one another through emails, texts, or by phone! It's actually pretty entertaining to listen to them!
But as far as I know it, this is how the whole thing plays out. You pick players from different teams of your choosing and make up your own team. Then, based off how those particular players play in real life, then that depends on how your fantasy team player/team does. But before all that, while you are picking your players you have a "fantasy draft" in which all the people participating in the fantasy league pick their players...a.k.a.....beer fest and play time for grown men! Then throughout the season, men constantly razz the other fantasy members and yell at the T.V. when their team player isn't doing well.
Does that sounds right?
To the men out there...congratulations on your "grown up" play time, I think it's pretty cute!
To the women out there...I say we stick with shopping! =)
I try to understand what my husband and all his buddies get so worked up about but really it's pretty comical listening to them! If nothing else, it's cheap entertainment for me!

DEATH BY HOMEWORK....
I guess it's that's time of year when we all start to think..."Why am I doing all this homework?" I know I always feel that way. I partially blame the weather. When we have those 70 degree days, who wants to be inside doing homework?
I get that feeling of being overwhelmed. My stomach starts to ache! I feel like I'm being smothered by a pile of papers. Is it possible to die from having a homework overload. I got behind one week due to a death in the family and now I feel like I'm drowning! Do you ever feel that way, too? Am I alone in my misery?
Then the light over the horizon begins to shine!!! Now I know why I'm doing all this! Now I remember! It's so I can have a brighter future! A future that I can be proud of! A future that will hopefully make my children look at me with pride! So as the light at the end of the tunnel begins to emerge, I start to feel hope again!
No...I will not be in school forever! Thank the lord for that! =)
P.S....I hope your all doing well in your classes! Best Wishes!!!

21 ways to NOT blow your diet!!!
I love this article! It has 21 great ideas for not blowing your diet!
This article wasn't exactly what I thought it was going to be when I first started reading it but was well worth it in the end.
I guess I was expecting 21 ways to keep your control, like "make sure to drink pleanty of water before you eat meals." But instead it was 21 ideas of substitues. For example, if you are craving a steak sandwich, it gives you are really awesome recipe of using portabello mushrooms instead of using steak. I so impressed with this because I have actually tried that substitute before and was really pleased by it.
If your anything like me, every year my New Year's resolution is to always start a diet. Then I end up blowing it because I have a temptation or craving for something I see. I think this is a great idea! Instead of telling people what they should or shouldn't do, then this offers ideas to actually fix your cravings!
I don't think it gets much simpler than that!

Walmart probing into racist comment...
Recently at a Walmart store in New Jersey there was a very unusual and racist comment made over the intercome!
I was stunned when I read this article! Now I am just about as pasty white as one person can be but I'm definitely NOT a racist. Over the loud speaker at a New Jersey Walmert, a male voice said..."All black people pleasse leave." Apparently employees and customers throughout the store were all equally appalled by the racist and rude comment.
I have friends who are African-American. It's weird for me to phrase them like that because I don't see them as any different than myself (minus the obvious difference in skin tone)! I just do NOT get why people have to be so crude and rude to other human beings out there. I never have. I grew up in an all white community. And if an African-American so much as even drove through town, the nasty comments and obsene gestures would come out of the wood work. I guess I learned by seeing ignorance first hand at the place in my own community.
Walmart said they were going to be throughly checking into the matter. Personally, I just think it's sad... GROW UP PEOPLE!!!

5 Money books worth buying
The article titled "Five Money Books worth buying," grabbed my attention right away.
I know I'm no different than any other American. Debt and up to my eyeballs with it. I have a friend and her husband who save every penny at all costs. Where I find that my husband and I spend every penny as if our pockets were on fire. OK, maybe that's over dramitizing things a little but you get the idea.
I once heard a story (and yes the story is true) about a man who skimped and saved every penny his whole life. Rarely bought new things, always bought used cars, hardly ever ate out. His whole purpose behind his saving all his money was so that he would live an easy life when he retired. I'm sure you can read between the lines and guess what comes next...the man died two weeks after he retired and never got to live a comfortable, lush lifestyle.
Now I'm not saying that you should spend every penny so that you won't miss out on anything. But I'm also not saying you should hoard every dime like it's your last chance at a meal. Each person needs to decide for themselves what type of financial lifestyle they want to live. My debt comes from when we were young, stupid, and really didn't have a whole lot of other choices. Looking back I wish things could of been different but they are what they are and now we deal with it.
The bottom line is, maybe we should all give those top 5 books a chance. Take them for what there worth or not worth...

Alice in Wonderland syndrome????
When I first read this article about a medical condition known as "Alice in Wonderland Syndrome," I was really surprised to hear that ot was a real condition.
The basics of it is when someone sees themselves or other as if looking through mirrors in a fun house. Objects can appear to be 3-D. They are usually associated with migranes but without the actual pain of the headache itself.
Doctors estimate that about only 300 people in the U.S. have the Alice in Wonderland Sydrome. They speculate that there are other out there with it, but do not see a medical proffessional due to the bizzare nature of the conditon.
I have to admit that if someone would of told me they suffered from Alice in Wonderland Syndrome before reading this article I probably would of thought they were nuts. But I am glad that I read the article and opened my eyes to something that is probably very scary for some people. May the lord bless them!

Is your marriage stong enough?
I have been successfully married for almost 14 years! I can say successful now because as a couple we have survived a once turbulent storm.
Right around the time of our 1st anniversary, I wasn't so sure we were going to make it. We were newly married, new jobs, and had moved 3 hours away from all our family and friends. We had no one to depend on but each other. It was probably one of the toughest times of my life. So when I saw this article on MSN, I knew I had to blog about it.
The author provides some really great points and sspects to look at if your marriage is stuggeling. As a woman, I know I once put a lot of extra pressure on my husband to live up to standards I don't know that even God could live up to. But someone had said something to me, basically saying that I'm not perfect either. I had to take a hard look at myself and let my husband off the hook. I knew he was the one for me and it was up to me to save my marriage. He was just a poor guy wondering what the hell he had got himself into.
Today I can honestly say that we have a wonderful, loving, and thriving marriage. I'm really proud of our marriage. I know that we have a marriage that others look up to. I love my husband more than anything and I'm so greatful he stuck around and put up with my nonsense.
This article is really worth the few minutes it takes to read it. Even though I have been married for a while, it never hurts to make sure we're still on the right path.

Ranting and Raving...
So, since Professor Chism gave us this cool option to blog about really anything, I thought I would use this opportunity to vent a few frustration I am dealing with in my life.
As a result of being a full time student, working full time, parent of 2, wife... something had to give. So I decided to stop doing daycare from my home so I can focus more on school and my family. Even though I am "Super mom who does it all", I can't!
Most of my daycare parents were totally awesome about the whole thing. The were congratulating me and being completely supportive. It was better than I could of ever imagined. I almost felt guilty how supportive they were being. But then the exceptions came... I have 2 parents who are barely speaking to me. 1 is upset that they won't find someone they trust as much as me which is a huge compliment. The other is being nasty because of the inconvienience I am causing her. This is so disappointing. She's the one I have bent over backwards the most for too. It kind of feels like a slap in the face. It almost makes me want to cry about how I'm being treated. But I am doing this for my family, not to burden anyone. I have thought about other people and their needs for so long that I really feel like I need to think of myself first for a change.
My husband keeps telling me that it's her problem not mine but I can't help but feel the repercusions of her actions. Another thing that bothers me it that she claims to be a huge Christian but isn't doing a very good job acting like one.
I feel like I'm whining here, so if you are reading this blog, Thanks for listening!

Teacher's in Rhode Island get fired for???....
Teachers in Rhode island were fired, because they wouldn't take on extra duties for very little extra pay.
I found this article very interesting because I have a friend that is a teacher who can possibly face the same fate!
The teachers at a Rhode Island school were fired because they were asked to perform extra duties at very little pay????....This seems pretty unfair to me! Many schools are now giving teachers the axe if students don't perform well on their MAPS testing. Personally I think that is a load of crap! I remember a hundred years ago when I was a student and took the MAPS testing. I didn't have any idea that the testing could have so many negative aspects come from it. To me the MAPS testing was nothing more than a few days off from a regular duties and I could of cared less about giving it my all.
Let's think about this for a second...if there was a specific teacher that a large group of students didn't like and they decided to perform badly on that specific area of study on the MAPS testing, then the unpopular teacher would get canned! It could totally happen that way.
Personally I am against MAPS and ACT testing. I'm a fairly smart gal but high stress testing is not my area of specialty. As a result of my not so super ACT grade, I have had to work my way through a few college classes that don't count towards my credits. It's a lot of pressure for one little number. And overall, it really means nothing.
I know I got off topic a little bit, but I reall feel for these teachers and others that face possible fates like them. If the teacher simply wasn't doing their job that would be entirely different but those who are...back off!!!

Bill Clinton offers support to Tiger Woods
Bill Clinton made a phone call to Tiger Woods to offer him support. This article came from People Magazine's online site.
I found this article a little amusing!
It's kind of like the pot calling the kettle black isn't it? But Bill Clinton who is also a well known adulterer, called Tiger Woods, who is dealing with affair issues. I, too offer my support to Tiger Woods, not because he had affairs but because he obviously has a problem and wants to do what he can to save his family. I really feel for the guy. Obviously so does Bill Clinton. He's faced scrutiny while in the lime light and has made a successful turn for the better as a human being. Clinton said something in the article basically saying that Tiger Woods can take this unfortunate turn of events and come out a better, more whole person and learn from his mistakes. I, too believe this. If somesome is able to take a bad situation and turn it around for the better, then power to then. Not everyone is able to do that. Some dwell on the negative and can't get past the negative effects it's had on them. While others are able to look into the face of their problems, stand up straight, brush off their shoulders and make the most out of the situation.
Who's to say that this whole situation won't make Tiger Woods a better father, husband, or even golfer??? But he's trying to make it right and making the right decisions to do that. Now I'm not saying his wife should forgive him, that's a descision only she can make because she's the one who will have to live with it. But I do feel for the guy.
Best wishes Tiger!

Super cool animal pictures!
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/35524630/from/ET/?beginSlide=1>1=43001 I found these pictures on MSN's homepage.
This wasn't an article to read but the pictures are totally fascinating!!!
O.K., I know you don't know me personally but if you did, you would know that I am a HUGE animal lover! As a result of my un-dying love for animals we have 2 dogs, 2 cats, a turtle, a guinea pig, and a hedgehog! Most animals are so sweet, so loving! Take for instance, my dogs! Gus and Maisy! They are 2 of the greatest dogs that God ever created! They are both labs and I love them tons! My husband and I actually have an on-going joke that if we were to ever get a divorce, there would be a custody fight for the dogs, not the kids! =) But they are so sweet and loyal! They welcome you with wagging tails at anytime of the day or night! There love is unconditional. All they expect in return is food, water, and to be loved in return. We couldn't imagine our life without them. Even our hedgehog is one of the sweetest things! The turtle isn't very exciting, poor guy! The cats are constant sources of love and entertainment as well. Anyway, when I saw those pictures I couldn't help but smile. Even for those of you who are not big animal lovers, the pictures are really fascinating to look at. I actually found myself on the site for almost 20 minutes just looking through the pictures! People who say that animals are stupid are crazy! They all have a personality of there own just like we do! And they can't talk back like a pre-teen with attitude does!!! LOL!!!
In conclusion, I hope you enjoy looking at the photos as much as I did! They were really great!

Woman dies from a Killer whale!!!
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/35566392?GT1=43001 I found this article on MSN.
This is a very tragic event!
Sea World's senior trainer, Dawn Brancheau died today from an apparent attack by a killer whale. The whale, Tully has been known for it's aggressive behavior apparently grabbed Brancheau by the arm during a exibit and began thrashing her around. There were actual eye witnesses that observed her death. Tully is kept in his own area as a result of his violent past that resulted in the deaths of 2 other victims. Brancheau once spoke about the known dangers of training and working with the whales everyday but this is still a tragic end to her life.
When I was I child, my parents and I went to Sea World on a family vacation. I remember it being one of the most fasinating things I had ever seen. To see the trainers in the water with such an enormous animal that seemed so friendly and loving. There was even one part of the show where the whale opened it's mouth and the trainer was tickeling the whales tongue. It was amazing! I loved everything about it! I had actually been contenplating taking my own children there this summer. I know bad things happen all the time, especially when you least expect them too but I can't help but feel a little hesitant about taking them. I know they would love it but I can't help but think of that poor woman who died while doing something that she loved so much!
In conclusion, I will say a prayer for Dawn Brancheau tonight and hope she is resting in peace.

Truck load of Marijuana goes up in smoke...
http://www.upi.com/Odd_News/2010/02/21/Truckload-of-marijuana-goes-up-in-smoke/UPI-52351266777717/ I found this article from an online source called Odd News.
This story wasn't exactly what I thought it was going to be but it was still a good one.
The basics if this story is that a confiscated truckload of marijuana was taken into custody by the police. There was more than 1700 pounds worth of marijuana in the truck. So when I first started reading this article I thought it was going to be a little bit juicier but that ok, I have my own rants to give about marijuana. But it did give me a good start on what to write about in this blog. Personally I think marijuana should be legal. I really don't see any difference between marijuana and alcohol. I'm not a big drinker and I haven't even considered pot in about 15 years but I just don't see what all the hype is about. Now I know as a mother of 2, I should strongly be against the use of any drugs but this isn't exactly cocaine we're talking about. You take a few puffs, get a little buzz, eat few thousand calories then you go on with life. There's not a big addition issue, it's not any more hazardous than downing a few beers. I just think if marijuana was treated in the same aspects of alcohol there wouldn't be such a big deal... No driving while under the influence of marijuana, not being allowed to be stoned on public, etc... Anyway that's my blog, more like a little ranting about a sensitive subject but none the less it's a topic of controvery. What's your opinion?
As the song goes..."everybody must get stoned"... (just kidding) =)

The real cost of eating out!
The real cost of eating out..., I found this article on MSN.
I was actually a little suprised by their figures.
When I read this article I was surprised to read that couples with kids spend more per year eating out than couples who don't have kids. I guess I always thought that my husband and I used to go out so much more when it was just the 2 of us, than we do know that we have 2 kids. But the more I thought about it after reading this article, I have to admit that we eat out just as much as we did before. However, the obvious difference is that we have 2 more mouths to feed, almost doubling our tab. I have a friend who is single and dosen't have kids. She once told me that it was just as cheap for her to dine out as it was to fix meals just for one because the way items are portioned. If I were single and didn't have family resposiblities I might think the same way. But living on a budget with a family of 4, I tend to think leftovers are the ultimate way of saving some serious cash for our lunch throughout the week. Also, I guess if you have the money to spend on luxuries of eating out a lot than it's not really such a big deal. Another friend of mine who is married and has 4 kids said that they eat out on an average of 2-3 times per week. She said her main reasoning behind their eating out is due to their busy schedules, which I would have to say is my #1 reason for eating out.
We all tend to complain about living in a reccesion and the cost of everything but I don't every see the restaurants' parking lots empty. I guess the bottom line for me anyway is that if you have the money to spend, you usually do!

Miss Klingon...Bizzare beauty pageants???
http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/35206244/?pg=14#TDY_AltBeautyPageants I found this pip of an article on MSN. It's about different beauty pageants from all over the world.
I actually found this article to be quite hysterical.
I'm giggling a little as I write this blog. You wouldn't believe the different types of beauty pageants there are out there. Even though at the young age of 18, I was in a beauty pageant myself, I don't overly agree with them. I think their great from the scholarship aspect but after the whole Jon Benet Ramsey thing, most pageants give me the willy's especially involving little girls. But when I read this article I couldn't help but smile. There are pageants for women who've had LOTS of plastic surgery done, pageants for gay men, there was even a pageant (and this one is my favorite) for imprisoned women in Siberia to get early parole. The whole concept is so ridiculous that I can't help but laugh. Could you imagine something like that in America? The American people would be outraged! I really hope you take the time to look at all the bizarre pageants that are offered out there! It was pretty entertaining.
In conclusion...I guess if you got it, you should flaunt it! LOL

LOL

Pregnate man????
Thomas Beatie is known as being the 1st pregnate man, is expecting his 3rd child with wife Nancy. This headline came from People Magazine's online web site.
I'm not sure why, but I find this article to be amusing!
O.K., I guess I do know why I find this amusing, it's because the "preganate man" is not REALLY a man. I get that he was born a woman and is a transgender! I get that he underwent partial surgery to become a man and has changed his/her appearance to look like a man. But to say that "HE" is pregnate when "HE" has female organs is not true. I don't see what all the hype is about. Big deal, he/she's gay and wants to have a baby that is genetically his. Millions of people everywhere of different race, religion, etc... want to have a baby of their own. More power to them that Thomas and his wife Nancy were able to make a family for themselves. I think it's great that they were able to have a family that they want and that they were able to do it for themselves. I guess I'm just in awe a little bit of what all the excitment is about. Now if Thomas were actually of been born as a male, with all male parts, then conceive a baby, then I would have to give him some major points! But as always, the media has made something out of something that didn't need to made into anything! As a little girl I used to play dress up all the time. Once in a while I would put on my dads overalls and boots and pretend to be like daddy. Now that I have children of my own, that doesn't make me a man who had kids! Leave the poor family alone and let them live with their own decisions in their own life. Who are we to judge them and be critical of them for wanting to have a family of their own!
In conclusion, I think it's great that Thomas and Nancy have a family that they love and support! You go...guys!!! =)

Ethan Zohn fights Hodgkins Disease
Former Survivor winner, Ehtan Zohn is fighting a rare form of Hodgkin's disease. I just read this article from People Magazines' online site.
This article is very inspiring to anyone who is fighting for their life. It's one of those stories that pull at your heart strings!
If you ever watched the reality show "Survivor," than you know who Ethan Zohn is. Not only was he a contestant on the show but won! He is now fighting for a different type of title, this one is his life. He is fighting a very rare form of Hodgkin's disease. He has undergone several rounds of chemotherapy and has now opted to try a new treatment to fight the cancer. He has undergone a stem cell transplant. Now I'm not the expert here but I do know that stem cells are a pretty new and controversial treatment. I don't even think that they are legal in the U.S.A., yet. I actually have friend who's daughter received a stem cell transplant a few years back. But it was for a totally different reason. And I know the stem cells didn't completely solve her issue but did help improve her overall outcome on things.
So here's to you Ethan Zohn! I hope your treatments are working for you and I will pray for you and others like you that any alternative treatments are the right one! Best Wishes!

Angelina Jolie offers help in Haiti
http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20342706,00.html I just read an article from People Magazine's online site that Angelina Jolie is going to Haiti to offer her help.
This article struck me as being very inspiring!!!
Angelina Jolie went to Haiti to offer her help to the earthquake victims and families. Along with her partner, Brad Pitt, they donated $1 million dollars to the Haiti relief fund. I'm in awe of there never ending giving. I once read a article that Jolie once said that if she made $10 million salary from a movie, then what was a mere $5 million dollars to donate to others in need. How inspiring is that?!!! I know most of us don't have anywhere near that much money to be able to give away, even though we wish we could. But could imagine if every high dollar movie star thought the same way that Jolie and Pitt do? Could you imagine the relief that would offer to millions all over the world? In case you don't know this about me, but I'm a People Magazine junkie. When I heard that Brad Pitt was divorcing Jennifer Aniston for Angelina Jolie, I'm sure my thoughts were the same as others...Jolie is a marriage wrecker! But after I began to learn of the endless good deeds that she does, it's no wonder Brad Pitt fell head over heals in love with her.
O.K. Americans...it's time to step up to the plate! Donate your old clothes, buy some extra can goods, give a few extra bucks that's in your pocket. You don't have to be a millionare to give to someone who really needs it. If you can't give in a finacial way, try giving your time to a local shelter. It's time to step up to the plate and help others!

Paparazzi or stalkers?...
http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20342512,00.html I just read a quick story from people magazine's online site that talked about Kendra Wilkison talking about how she cried after the superbowl because the paparazzi wouldn't leave her alone.
When I first read the headline I was pretty curious to see what she was talking about. I feel the same way now as I did when I started the article is that the paparazzi are psycopathic stalkers.
The basics of the story is that Kendra Wilkison (former playboy centerfold and former girlfriend to Hugh Hefner) was at the superbowl watching her husband Hank Baskett play for the Colts. Although his team lost, Kendra was emotionally upset, not about her husbands team losing but because the paparazzi were in her and her families face the whole time and wouldn't leave them alone. She also had with her, her new born child. She asked the paparazzi several times to leave them alone, mainly because of having the baby with her and they would not go away.
I understand that there is a certain amount of privacy that you lose when you become famous but that is absolutely ridiculous. I have read many articles where paparazzi have caused accidents even deaths (example...Princess Diana) where they were stalking someone famous all for the sake of getting a few juicy details and photos. I admit that I really enjoy reading celebrity gossip magazines. But I certainly do not want anyone hurt or killed or even upset just to gain a little access to their private lives. I wish celebrities would ban together and make a law where the paparazzi have to maintain a fair distance away from them. I know that if that were happening to me, I would be furious.
In conclusion, paparazzi are dangerous and nothing more than stalkers with cameras in front of their faces. They should be put in jail for causing harm or serious upset to anyone! Shame on them!!!

Brittany Murphy's sad death...
http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20341926,00.html This blog came to me from reading People Magazine's online site. It is about the sad and untimely death of actress Brittany Murphy.
My response to this story is the same as it was when I first read the story. I found it to be sad that a young life ended so abruptly.
For those of you who don't know who Brittany Murphy is, she was a young actress with a very successful career. Many first claimed that they thought she had originally died from illegal drug use or had an eating disorder. Now that the coroners report has come out, she actually died from pnemonia complications. Her husband, Simon Monjack and her mother both say that she did not seem that ill and were very suprised when the lab reports came back.
I have to admit that I really have never been a big fan of Brittany Murphy. She just was never one of my favorite actresses. None the less, she always seemed to have a very sunny disposition about her. She had a light to her that made you feel warm whenever you saw her. When I originally heard about her passing on MSN.com, I was really shocked. I admit that I also gave into the stereotypes and thought that another hollywood harlet gave into the life of drugs or binging their food. But I was still shocked and saddened by her loss.
So Brittany Murphy, if you can hear me, I apologize to you for misjudging you as another careless hollywood-ite! I hope you are resting in peace and know that the world now knows the truth. May you be at peace!

Ashton Kucher say he hates Valentine's day and I agree!
http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20341357,00.html My article came from People Magazine online web site. When I first read the headline and even after I finshed reading the article I still agree with Ashton Kucher that Valentine's day sucks!!!!
Now please don't misunderstand me, I'm not one of those lonely old woman who sit around and begrudge others a life full of love and happinass. I actually have a wonderful husband of almost 14 years. I guess this blog isn't really all that much about Ashton Kucher as it is about the opinion we commonly share. I really don't see the point in Valentine's Day. It's basically a Hallmark holiday that some people use as an excuse to spend money and attention on someone they care about. That's all fine and dandy but if you really care and love someone, why do you need one day a year to tell that person how much you care or have one day a year to do something nice for the them.
I guess in conclusion I feel that Valentine's is a waste. It's comforting to know that others feel the same way. If you really love someone, don't wait until one day a year to tell or show them how you feel. Step up and make your love last a lifetime!

Gisele Bundchen said giving birth wasn't painful...WTH???
This story came from People Magazine's web site. Follow the link if you're interested in reading the article for yourself.
http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20340966,00.html The basic information of the story is that Supermodel Gisele Bundchen, who is married to Quarter Back Tom Brady, gave birth to her first child and claims she didn't experience any pain and without having any major drugs.
My first response to this story was...ARE YOU SERIOUS??? My response did change a teeny tiny bit after reading the article but not by much.
I have given birth 2 times and after reading the headline, I had to sit there for a moment with my mouth open! No major drugs while giving birth and no pain...hmmmm! Either someone is delusional or lying! Now I will admit that my 2nd child was much easier than my first but that was all because of the wonderful miracle called "the epidural"!!! I know a few people who have given birth without anything but NO ONE said it didn't hurt! All I can think of is that maybe since she's a Supermodel, maybe she has some super powers that come with that title.
All I can say is from one woman to another is "power to ya sister!" If anyone can have that fantastic of an experience while giving birth than I'm jealous! Best wishes to anyone who can pull off a 100% pain-free delivery.

The Biggest Loser
I recently read an article, in People Magazine about a past weight loss champ. I have also watched the show many times. In the article, it talks about how a man lost 239 pounds!!! The show is absolutely incredible.
I was amazed from the start about this man. Now, I am not the skinniest person but to lose 239 pounds seems astounding to me! You can't help and smile for this man who has made such a huge and dramatic change in his life.
If you've ever watched the show you will see that it is all for real. No diet pill, no gastric by-pass surgery. It's hard work and sweat! They work out everyday, do exercise challenges, eat a healthy diet. Basically they transform their lifestyle so that can lead a healthier more vibrant life. The people who go on the show are not just a little on the over weight side, they are obese. They live with many health issues as a result of being over weight. Diabetes, high blood pressure, sore joints. Not only do they face health issues but they face public scrutiny and are ashamed of who they have become. These people realize they have to make a huge change in their life and do what even most skinny people can't do. EXERCISE, EXERCISE, EXERCISE!!! God bless them all that they have found the will-power and courage to make this change in their lifestyle.
In conclusion, I have to admit I'm envious. Like I said before I am not the skinniest person, and I can definitely stand to loose a few pounds. Not everyone has the will or desire to go through what they did. Change is scary and sometimes it's just easier to grab another hand full of chips and keep things as they are. So I challenge you (and myself)...are you BIG ENOUGH to be the biggest loser??? I hope so...

The Obama's
I decided to blog about the Obama's today. And, yes...my main source came from People Magazine. Please know right off the top that I am not big into politics. I am one of those sad people who could really care less about voting. But I am intrigued my President Barack Obama and his family.
I have to admit that I find myself always wanting to hear more about them. The story in People Magazine focuses on what it was like for them in their first year under his presidency. I loved the whole article.
They seem very wholesome as a family. Whether or not he's a good president, I'm not going to really go there. But as a dad and husband, President Obama seems really genuine, as does his wife and 2 girls. As you can imagine, the President leads a very hectic lifestyle. Regardless, the President and Mrs. Obama always seem to make thier family their top priority. As they should. They make time for dinner together, play in the snow, and many others things that most of us do as a family together. I remember once reading an article (probably in People Magazine) that discussed how things were going to change for the 1st family once they moved into the White House. I found it so interesting that their girls still needed to set their own alarm clocks everyday and be responsible for getting themselves up and around each morning. Also with a staff of hundreds, the girls still had to clean their own rooms. I don't know why but that always seemed so humbling to me.
In conclusion, I think many of us could handle taking a cue or two from the Obama's. Learn from their family values, be the people that they were raised to be. Not everyone grows up in the best of circumstances but we can decide what kind of adult, parent, and spouce we want to be. I think the Obama's have a pretty good idea of what they are all about.

Tiger Woods
Drum roll please.......I found my current blog information in People Magazine! If you didn't read my past blog then you need to know that I am a People Magazine junkie! I love it and can't get enough of it! The story I would like to discuss today would the controversy surrounding Tiger Woods. For those of you who are not familiar with Tiger Woods, he is on of the greatest golfers of all time. He is what Micheal Jordan was to the basketball world. Tiger Woods has always had a squeaky clean image, and is now facing divorce and public scrutiny by having numerous affairs on his beautiful wife.
I, by no means am a sports person. It's just not my thing. But every once in a while someone comes along and stands out in the crowd. For me that person was Tiger Woods. I was extremely disappointed when I heard what was happening with him.
He always seemed to have it all. A wonderful family, great up-bringing, fantastic career, beautiful wife, great kids. And it's as if he let it all slip away. He has been linked to having as many as a dozen different affairs. I guess the reason I was so disappointed by this news is because he seemed like he was so different from all the other celebrities that you hear about. I can truly say that I held him on a pedestal of integrity. It was a very disheartening moment for me. Now as a result of his now very public affairs, he is facing divorce, his sponsors are bailing on him, he's no longer the "man" he was suppose to be.
Who knows why he did what he did. Maybe he was never the perfect poster boy he appeared to be, maybe he wants out of the lime-light, maybe he did it for some attention. With out walking in his shoes, I really shouldn't be so harsh and judgmental. I actually feel like slapping myself on the back of the hand for throwing out accusations with out knowing the whole story, but I do know that I will never be able to think of Tiger Woods as the great icon that I once did.

Super stars who waste their money!!!
You will soon realize with this post and future posts that I am a People Magazine junkie!!! Most if not all my post will probably be from articles with in People Magazine. The blog I'm writing about today is from the article involving Heidi Montag. I have never really personally been a fan of Ms. Montag's. I think she is another mindless socialite who claims to be an actress. The article about her features information about he being addicted to plastic surgery. In fact, she had 10 operations in 1 day. And now her even her own mother won't be able to recognize her.
My first response to the article was pretty much..."Another hollywood superstar who has too much time and money on her hands." I pretty much felt the same way throughout the whole article as I do now...what a waste!
I'm sorry, but I think it's sad! She obviously already thin, already beautiful, already talented. She should be seeing a shrink rather than a money hungry plastic surgeon who should tell her to take care of what's going on inside rather than the outside. Then come talk to me when you do! I just think that makes so much more sense. If she continues down this path she's obviously on a self-distructive one!
In conclusion, take care of you! I see nothing wrong with a little plastic surgery or wanting to better yourself! But do it for the right reasons! I think we should all say a little prayer for Ms. Montag tonight and others just like her.
